Spring is finally here! ～ここノースダコタにもついに春がやってきました。

The temperatures have warmed and the sunshine has been welcomed by all.

Our producers have been busy in the fields planting the 2016 crops.The weather conditions have been ideal and most have completed the planting stage.

外は暖かく、みんなが太陽の光を楽しんでいます。

ここのところずっと生産者達は2016年の植え付けに忙しくしていました。
理想的な天気が続いてくれたこともあって、現在植え付けは殆ど終わっています。

bob_0601_00 — 5月20日の写真です。左側は私たちのオフィスの庭で、道の向こう側のサイロを囲んでいるところは、小麦の畑です。最初は黒土だった畑が、今は美しい緑に覆われているのが分かります。

Soybean planting began in early May with warm days and a warm forecast.

These warm days quickly dried out top soil and many of the planted fields were slow to emerge because of lack of moisture.While many plants had adequate moisture to germinate and emerge, we still have seeds laying in dry dirt waiting for a significant rain event.

大豆は、暖かい日が続いた5月の始め、その後も暖かくなるだろうという予報が出たので植え付けを開始しました。

播種の後も暖かい日が続いたので畑の表面が一気に乾燥し、それによる水分不足から発芽はゆっくりでした。ほとんどの種は、必要な水分を得ることが出来て地上に芽が出てきましたが、まだ土の中で雨を待っている種もあります。

The current forecast is for rain events over the next week and we are hopeful that these materialize.It is still early in the growing season and we have plenty of time for these remaining seeds to germinate and become productive plants.

今はまだシーズンの初めなので、まだ芽が出ていない種も発芽し良い作物に育つには十分な時間はあります。天気予報では来週にかけて雨が降るとのことなので、この雨でまだ土の中にある種も発芽してくれるだろうと思っています。

As we work on nurturing the beginning stages of the 2016 crop year, many of us have a lifestyle transition happening. Children are beginning their summer break from school.

2016年の畑仕事が始まるのと同時に、私達の生活にも変化が起こるのでお伝えしたいと思います。子供たちが夏休みの準備にかかるのです。

Our typical school year begins in the Fall (late August) and goes through Spring (mid-May) and we take about 3 months (June, July and August) of vacation and enjoy a variety of summertime outdoor activities such as baseball, swimming, youth camps, golf, enjoying lake time, family vacations, and much, much more.

Children bounce with excitement thinking of all the fun they’re going to have throughout the summer with their friends and family.

アメリカの典型的な学校は秋（8月の終わり頃）に新学期が始まり、春（5月半ば頃）までが1年です。その後、6月、7月、8月と3カ月間は夏休みになるので、野球、水泳、キャンプ、ゴルフや湖へ出かけたり、家族とバケーションに出かけたりなどなど、沢山の夏の行事を楽しむのです。

ですから、この時期の子供達は夏休みに友達や家族と何をするかということ跳ね回りながら楽しみにしているのです。
